Field Trip

On Wednesday, Feb. 22nd, the class will be going on a trip to the museum to do an activity about explorers. The class needs some parent volunteers to either come with us or meet us there. The permission form is in the communications folder. I will paste it below:

Div. 4 and 5 are going on a field trip to the Royal BC Museum on Wed., Feb 22nd, 2012. We will be travelling by school bus. Our bus will leave the school at 9:00 and arrive at the museum at approximately 9:30. There will be time for students to eat their snacks outside before going in to the museum. For ½ of the time, one class will be doing a museum activity about Simon Fraser and the fur trade, while the other class (in small groups, each supervised by an adult) browses through the First Nations gallery. Then the classes will switch. (Exact times of the programs will be given in a later newsletter.) Students are welcome to bring money for the gallery shop at the museum, but they may not use the concession. We will be eating lunch at the museum.

Students need to bring an easily portable snack that is in a non-breakable container. They should also bring a “brown bag” lunch, with easy-to-eat, non-messy foods. The museum does not allow backpacks/bags larger than 30 cm X 30 cm in the galleries. The museum provides large bins for each class for coats and backpacks and stores them in a room off-limits to the public.

We will need 10 adults (altogether) to chaperone groups of 5 - 6 students all day. Volunteers are welcome to accompany us on the bus or you may meet us at the museum.

Our class fund, generously provided by PAC, will pay for all costs of this field trip.

Accidents can be the result of the nature of the activity and can occur with or without any fault of either the student or the School Board or its employees or agents, or the facility where the activity is taking place. By allowing your son/daughter to participate in this activity, you are accepting the risk of an accident occurring, and agree that this activity as described above, is suitable for your child.

Sue Allen and Rupert Gadd

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please sign below giving your child permission to go on this field trip and to indicate whether or not you can volunteer. Please return the form by Monday. Children not returning the form will not be permitted to participate in this field trip. Alternate supervision will be arranged for them at school.

I give ______________________________ (name of student) permission to participate in the field trip to the Royal BC Museum on Wednesday, February 22nd, 2012. I understand that my child may be exposed to certain risks while participating in this activity. Accidents and injuries may occur.
