Recorders for Music

Dear Parents,
Today students took home a recorder order form as we will be studying the recorder (a flute-like instrument) throughout fourth and fifth grade. To make it more convenient and more economical, we would like to order the recorders for you. This also allows us to have the same style and brand of recorder for all students which helps to ensure better sound quality when they play together as a group.

Please see the attached form for more information. However, the order forms need to be returned by this Friday Dec. 16. If your order form has been lost (or eaten), please use the attached order form and have students return their forms by Friday at the latest.

Thank you,
Mrs. Kosolofski

(I've pasted the full order form below. RG)

December 13, 2011
Dear Parents,
Your child will be studying the recorder (a flute-like instrument) throughout
fourth and fifth grade. As an integral part of our music program, the recorder
helps students learn to read music and provides an instrument for solo or
ensemble playing.
To make it more convenient and more economical, we would like to order the
recorders for you. This also allows us to have the same style and brand of
recorder for all students which helps to ensure better sound quality when they
play together as a group.
We will be ordering AULOS 3-piece German-fingering soprano recorders that
come with a storage case, cleaning rod and a fingering chart. The total cost
will be $8 including taxes.
If your child already owns a recorder, please have them bring it to school to
show me. A recorder using Baroque-fingering or of poor quality will make it
more difficult to be successful. A limited number of recorders are available for
students to use if finances are a concern.
Thank you for your continued support of the music program. If you have any
concerns or questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me at school. Please
encourage your child to practice the recorder at home.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Kosolofski
Please complete and return the following to Mrs. Kosolofski by Dec. 16, 2011.
Cheques should be make payable to Happy Valley Elementary.
